DIY Pom Pom Garland

DIY

I love DIY projects…especially the ones that are cheap, efficient and end up looking like something you could purchase in a store. I’ve always loved pretty garlands for as long as I could remember and I recently came across one that a friend owned and I fell in love. It was a multi-colored string made up of rainbow pom poms that made her simple living room look festive and bright. Unfortunately, she told me that she had bought it in Peru, leaving me out of luck to buy one of my own. So, I got to thinking, “I could make one of these!” The materials are simple and I definitely have some string laying around…

Enter Etsy. Our more specifically, the Cutest Little Garlands Etsy shop. They sell all sorts of felt pom poms in all different sizes and colors. I purchased a package of 50 Blush Ombre pom poms and awaited their arrival. Once they came in the mail, I followed the simple steps below and wal-ah! We had a cute little garland.

Steps to creating a pom pom garland

Step 1: Think about your color pattern. I chose to alternate colors to create a fun pattern but you could also stick to the ombre scheme the pack comes with.

Step 2: Thread a big needle with strong thread in a neutral color.

Step 3: Leave the thread attached to the spool so that you don’t run out of thread.

Step 4: Start stringing the pom poms onto the needle and slip them down towards the spool. The needle should be strong enough to push through each pom pom with ease.

Step 5 : String the pom poms until there are none left and tie off each end of the thread by making a small loop. These loops will help you hang the garland onto mantels, bed frames etc.

Step 6: Set up the garland around your house and send me a picture :)
